Ever Wonder?

Greetings:

Welcome to my new blog.  Just to let you know, the title of my blog is Amplitudo Inquisitor which is Latin for The Grand Inquisitor.  I plan to cover a variety of topics but my main focus will be on religion in general.  I want to pose a question to everyone and am looking for feedback from my readers on what you think about the questions that I introduce and give my opinion on.  As previously stated, I want to begin discussing religion.  My question is somewhat complex but is one that is simple in itself.  Do you ever wonder why there are so many different Christian denominations?  Now, I know the easy answer, that it is because people interpret the Bible differently and that has led to the different denominations.  Well, that unleashes another question about if the Bible is truly god's word, then why is it open to different interpretations?  Should be cut and dry.  I will take it a little further, why so many different sub-denominations in Christianity?  Here is an example, Assemblies of God encompasses the denominations of Assembly of God, Church of God, Church of Christ, Church of God in Christ, and probably some others.  Baptists are divided into Southern Baptist (largest fundamental group in US), American Baptist, Missionary Baptist, Freewill Baptist, Landmark Missionary Baptist as well as others I am sure.  The differences between the Protestant (as a whole) and Catholic, is very simple to understand as well as between Catholic and Orthodox.  I could deal with just two or three denominations, but the differences in all the protestant denominations just astounds me.  Oh, don't forget that in the south where there is a prominent amount of Southern Baptist churches, those are white only churches.  Black Americans have separate baptist churches.  Now, this is a result of the history of slavery, but why, in the 21st Century are the churches mostly still separate?  Just my thoughts.
